In the world of Emperor Penguins, the female lays the egg and then leaves the male to incubate it. The chick’s only protection from the brutal Antarctic winter is its father’s brood pouch. It’s unlikely that parent and chick could survive this alone.
But each breeding season, thousands of Emperor Penguins will form a huge huddle where they tuck in close together, sharing in the warmth of each other’s bodies and protecting each other from harsh and freezing winds.
The tightly packed penguins shuffle on mass every 30-60 seconds, reordering themselves so that each individual gets to cycle through to the warm centre of the huddle, to be embraced, sheltered and protected by the others. No one penguin is left to constantly face the brunt of the storm.
As a creative on your own you might feel like you get knocked about by harsh conditions while you’re trying to protect and incubate your baby project until it can stand on its own.
What if you could find your huddle? A group of like-minded penguins who are working towards similar goals, recognise the challenges you face and are prepared to embrace, shelter and protect you and your idea?
I’d like for The Infinite Creative community to be a place like that. Where you find a safe place that helps you incubate your creative idea into existence. Where you can draw upon the support and experience of your fellow artists and then pay it forward to your fellow penguins when they need a little shelter from the cold.
I love the idea of a creative huddle!
Have you seen March of the Penguins? It’s been a few years, and reading your description brought Morgan Freeman’s voice a narrator right back to me!
